The fish bone x-ray inspection system is a high configuration x-ray system designed specifically to find the smallest possible sizes of bones in fish portions or fillets, whether raw or frozen. Using proprietary TDI-HD detector technology and algorithms, the fish bone x-ray can detect bones down to 0.2mm x 2mm is size.
The fish bone x-ray inspection system from TDI Packsys is available in 2 configurations: either with a manual infeed/outfeed or with an automated infeed/outfeed. In both configurations, a large 42-inch LCD screen is provided, allowing an operator to easily remove any fish bones that are found, allowing the customer to salvage product with minimal loss.
Fish bone x-ray inspection systems from TDI Packsys are specifically designed for the detection, location, and facilitated removal of all bones in both fresh and frozen fish portions and fillets. With varying speeds, sizes, and configurations available, fish bone x-ray inspection can improve both the quality and speed of your process while ensuring the safety of your customers and brand.
Large monitor projects any product containing bones – bone location is highlighted for easy removal with minimal product loss.
The fish bone x-ray inspection system from TDI Packsys incorporates the same advanced technology as our other x-ray systems, with additional features specifically designed with the needs of the seafood industry in mind. Inspection on the Fish Bone x-ray begins in the same manner as other systems, with the product entering the cabinet and being inspected by our proprietary algorithms. If a bone or other defect is detected, the audible alarm sounds and a retracting, bullnose conveyor allows that specific product to fall into a collection bin or onto a conveyor that will bring it to a rework station. Once the product is ready to be reworked, a high-resolution image of the product is displayed on a 42” monitor, with arrows directly labeling all bones or defects that were detected in the fish. A line worker can then use the displayed image to remove the bones from the product, minimizing waste and maintaining product integrity.
Each of our x-ray systems come with the training, service and support your staff needs — TDI Packsys is with you every step of the way to make sure you are 100% satisfied. Additionally, TDI Packsys provides annual testing, certification and maintains FDA registration to ensure your system remains in complete and continual compliance with all applicable regulations.
All X-ray inspection systems use componentry from global market leaders, including VJT, Siemens, and Schneider. Each unit is constructed of 304 stainless steel with a stunning mirror finish (optional sand blasted finish). X-ray Inspection systems from TDI Packsys can be used in virtually any environment, and all areas are rated for full wash down with our IP69K option.
TDI Packsys offers the most precise x-ray inspection systems on the market. When your application requires an exceptional level of metal detection sensitivity, or the ability to detect non-metallic contaminants such as bone, stone or even glass, then pharmaceutical or food x-ray inspection equipment is a necessity.
TDI Packsys offers a wide variety of systems that deliver best-in-class performance at a tremendous value. No other provider can match the level of safety and quality of inspection systems that TDI Packsys delivers. Our machines also provide a higher level of quality and performance features, such as unique triple-beam x-ray detection, for incredibly precise three-dimensional inspection.
If you are interested in seeing the superior performance of x-ray inspection systems from TDI Packsys, we offer free, no-obligation validation testing of your exact products and any contaminant samples you would like tested, in addition to our standard certified contaminant sample set. We simulate your exact production conditions, and will provide photos, videos and a formal report on the sensitivities you would be able to achieve with a TDI Packsys x-ray. Reach out today to get your validation test scheduled, and see the real difference of TDI Packsys x-rays.
X-ray inspection systems work by producing beams of high frequency electromagnetic radiation (x-rays) in a generator. These beams are then directed at a desired target, which will absorb some of the rays while allowing others to pass through. On the opposite side of the target from the generator sits a detector which then reads the EM waves that make it through the target.
The higher the density/larger the size of the product, the less radiation will pass through. The result is an image produced by the detector which details the high and low density areas throughout the target. This is the same principle seen when making shadow puppets on a wall. Some light is blocked by the puppet, and the resulting shadow gives detail on the shape of the puppet. With x-rays, that detail is also internal.
The main difference between metal detectors and x-ray inspection systems is in the methodology of how each machine inspects for foreign materials. Metal detection relies on conductivity to locate stainless, ferrous and non-ferrous metals in product, while x-ray uses density differences between the product and foreign bodies to perform inspection. X-ray technology allows for a far greater range of foreign materials to be detected, including metal, glass, stone, bone, rubber, gasket (both metal detectable and non-metal detectable), plastic, and various other mid and high-density items. As a general rule of thumb, x-ray inspection systems are able to detect contaminants at a much smaller size than metal detectors.
Some products are limited by their composition and packaging with which inspection systems can be used. Products with metallic packaging, such as those with metallized foil, cannot be accurately inspected with a metal detector, and require the use of an x-ray system. The best way to determine which option is best for your application is to receive a consultation or free, no-obligation validation testing. We can test your exact product on a variety of different systems using certified test cards, or foreign material samples you provide, to offer you a formal report on the capabilities and expected performance of each type of technology. At TDI Packsys, we believe validation testing on your specific products is an integral step in choosing the right system for your needs.
No PPE is required to be worn while operating x-ray inspection systems from TDI Packsys. The use of lead lining and protective curtains in the x-ray mitigates radiation from the generator, allowing only a fraction of the radiation used in inspection to exit the system. The FDA regulates these systems, and has set a standard of 5 μSv/hour as the safe level of radiation. X-ray systems from TDI Packsys emit doses of less than 1 μSv an hour, well below the FDA allowable limit. Every day, we are exposed to background radiation naturally produced by the sun and various environmental factors. Each year, the average person is exposed to 2,400 μSv of this background radiation, a higher dose than you would get standing next to an active x-ray inspection system for more than 3 months straight.
